Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you’re wondering if you need therapy, the answer is probably yes—and not because you’re broken, but because life can be tough, and we all need support sometimes. Therapy is a powerful act of self-care that helps you grow, gain insight, and become your strongest self. It’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of!
-
Finding the right therapist is a lot like finding the perfect pair of shoes—it takes time, and you don’t have to settle. Trust your instincts, ask questions, and see who feels like the right fit for you. When you feel seen, heard, and understood, and can share your goals, you’re on the right track.
-
There are many types of therapy, and the best fit depends on your unique concerns and goals. During our initial conversation, we’ll explore what you’re seeking and decide together which approach might work best. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we can adjust as we go to meet your needs. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel empowered to rewrite your story and reclaim your personal power.
-
A trauma-informed therapist understands how trauma affects the mind, body, and behavior. I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you’re in control of your story. Together, we’ll work to identify patterns, release shame, and rebuild your sense of self through a strength-based, healing-centered approach.
-
My sessions are designed to be effective and, yes, even enjoyable! While we’ll tackle challenges, we’ll also seek out moments of joy and maybe even some laughter. You get to choose the setting that feels best for you—my private office, virtual sessions from home, or outdoors, where nature can play a role in healing. Most sessions last an hour, but for certain activities, we may schedule a bit of extra time.
-
If you’re not ready for therapy but want to learn about relationships, trauma, or sexual violence, that’s a great first step toward understanding and healing. There are books, podcasts, and online resources that can provide valuable insights at your own pace. When you’re ready, therapy can build on what you’ve learned to help you process and grow.
